James A. Beck
Mr. Beck serves as the President & Chief Executive Officer of the Company and TrustAtlantic Bank. He is a seasoned executive with 36 years of banking experience, including 28 years in the Triangle area. Immediately prior to his role with TrustAtlantic, Mr. Beck was principal of J. Beck & Company, a financial services and advisory firm after having led Capital Bank Corporation, headquartered in Raleigh North Carolina, as the President & Chief Executive Officer from its inception in 1997 until August 2003.
During his tenure with Capital Bank Corporation, the Company grew to approximately $900 million in total assets, twenty-one banking locations with over 250 employees through organic growth and acquisitions. In addition to starting Capital Bank, Mr. Beck served as Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer for SouthTrust Bank of North Carolina, N.A. In that role, he led the first successful entry of a major out-of-state bank holding company into North Carolina, and grew that bank to over $200 million in total assets in five and one-half years.
Mr. Beck is a 1974 graduate of North Carolina State University. Throughout his career he has been active in leadership roles in various civic affairs and local charities. He has served on the Board of Directors of The Mangum Group, a privately held highway construction and site development contracting company chairing the Compensation Committee and serving on the Audit Committee. Mr. Beck is a current Board member and past Board Chair for the Greater Raleigh Chamber of Commerce.
John N. Anthony
Mr. Anthony joined TrustAtlantic Bank as one of it's founding Executives in 2006 and serves as the Company's Chief Administrative Officer. He is responsible for the retail banking, marketing and deposit gathering efforts, plus oversees the human resources and mortgage functions. He has 25 years of banking experience and prior to joining TrustAtlantic he spent the previous nine years with Raleigh based Capital Bank, where he left as Senior Vice President and Chief Administration Officer. He has a strong retail and marketing background and plays a key role in establishing a sales and service culture throughout the Bank.
Mr. Anthony is a 1987 graduate of East Carolina University and in 2001 completed the BAI Graduate School of Retail Banking in Madison, WI. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for the United Way of North Carolina, and is a past Board Chair for the United Way of the Greater Triangle. He also serves on the Board of Anna's Angels, a non-profit dedicated to Downs Syndrome research.
Timothy S. Day
Mr. Day serves as the Company's Chief Credit Officer. He is responsible for the Bank's loan policies and procedures, as well as the overall quality of the Bank's lending portfolio. He also serves as the Bank's CRA Officer, manages the Loan Operations department, and oversees all credit underwriting.
Mr. Day started his banking career in 1981. Prior to joining TrustAtlantic Bank, he spent 15 years with BB&T, serving as Senior Credit Officer for the Northeast and Western Regions of North Carolina and as Regional Loan Administrator in Winston Salem. The majority of his career has been in commercial banking, with over 16 years in a credit administration capacity. Mr. Day is a 1981 and 1986 graduate of Concord University and a 2002 graduate of the Graduate School of Banking of the South at LSU.
Richard W. Edwards
Mr. Edwards serves as the Company's Chief Financial Officer. He is responsible for all the financial activities of the Bank and Company and also has the responsibility for information technology, facilities, bank operations, audit and compliance. He has previously served as a senior financial officer of several public and private financial institutions including most recently as the Chief Financial Officer of Square 1 Financial, Inc. from August 2005 until September 2006 and the Chief Financial Officer of Capital Bank Corporation from April 2004 until August 2005. Mr. Edwards' professional experience also includes eight years with the international public accounting firm of Ernst & Young and eleven years with Bank of America.
Mr. Edwards is a 1981 graduate of the University of Illinois and a member of the AICPA. He previously served on the Board of Directors and Audit Committee of Hemagen Diagnostics, Inc.
L. Randy Powell, Jr.
Mr. Powell serves as an Executive Vice President and the Company's Chief Banking Officer. He is responsible for overseeing recruitment and development of the Bank's commercial lending team, and manages the growth of the Bank's commercial relationships. Prior to joining TrustAtlantic, Mr. Powell served middle market customers in North Carolina from Raleigh to Wilmington for SunTrust Bank leading a team of six commercial lending offices. These six lending offices represented over $3 billion in loans and $1 billion in deposits.
Mr. Powell is a seasoned banker with 35 years of total banking experience, including 21 years with SunTrust Bank serving Wake County and other markets, and over 30 years of lending experience. Mr. Powell is a 1978 graduate of East Carolina University, and a 1990 graduate of the Graduate School of Banking of the South in Baton Rouge, LA.
